Crossing boundaries and embracing our Phygital Existence
In the video linked in the embedded tweet from Alts Anonymous, LUKSO Co-Founder Marjorie Hernandez is filmed saying, “Everything our brain can perceive is REAL. So if I can see it I can perceive it… it’s real. So when something is digital it’s not unreal, it’s just digital.”
Marjorie continues,
“As sophisticated humans that exist in the future we need to understand that reality is more than just physical atoms put together."
I wanted to log a short note today because I agree with Marjorie.
As I watch my “Real” or physical life become increasingly intertwined with the digital life of the ETHalorian I am left feeling as though I have unknowingly crossed an invisible threshold and I can never go back.
In my humble opinion, we as a society have crossed the same boundary on the edge of the metaverse and are traveling ever deeper into a frontier filled with novel relationships and experiences. Our new and evolving digital reality is filled with immersive and flexible experiences that are sensorily rich and perceptually…well...”Real”.
New “Real” Digital Identities are being born from physical and digital relationships that blur the lines that shape and define them, and we as citizens of the metaverse are creating phygital lives and livelihoods that can not be defined in one realm without making reference to the other.
Our collective sense of self along with our economic activities are entering a “New Creative Economy” where an endless well of possibility is ready to be tapped at anytime, by anyone, anywhere with potentially life changing consequences as a result.
We are at the dawning of a new phygital renaissance and the elements of society that have crossed this boundary have been permanently disrUPted. Does this idea resonate with you too?
